Working with List View

List view view_list.jpg lets you organize items according to a number of categories that appear as columns in the Project panel. You can select which columns you want to include and add your own custom columns. You can also resize and rearrange the columns to suit your organizational method. However, the Name column is always the first column.

To hide or show columns in list view:

  1. In the Project panel menu, choose Edit Columns (Figure 4.9).

Figure 4.9 In the Project panel menu, choose Edit Columns.

The Edit Columns dialog box appears.
  2. Select the headings for the type of information you want to view when the Project panel is set to list view (Figure 4.10).

  3. Click OK to close the Edit Columns dialog box.

Only the columns you specified appear in the Project panel.

To rearrange headings in list view:

  • With the Project panel set to list view, drag a heading in the Project panel to the left or right to place it where you want (Figures 4.11 and 4.12).

To sort items in list view:

  • With the Project panel set to list view, do one of the following:
    • To sort clips by a particular column heading, click the heading (Figure 4.15).
      Figure 4.15

Figure 4.15 Click a column heading to sort clips by that heading. (Note the small arrow next to the Name column points up.)

    • To reverse the sort order, click a column heading twice (Figure 4.16).
      Figure 4.16

Figure 4.16 Click the heading a second time to reverse the sort order. (Here, the small arrow points down.)

A small triangle next to the column name indicates whether items are sorted in ascending or descending order.
