Saving Space by Customizing Your Installation
Speaking of hard drive space, you can conserve anywhere from a few hundred megabytes to a few gigabytes by choosing the Customize option during the install process.
When you select Customize, you are able to elect to install or not install printer drivers by specific manufacturers (by default, all drivers for a variety of manufacturers are installed); language translations (which allow you to run Mac OS X in foreign languages and are often not needed); additional fonts for non-Romantic languages (such as Chinese, Arabic, and Hebrew); the Unix X11 environment (which is not installed by default).
