Flash and SEO have a very interesting relationship right now. Content inside SFWs is more legible to search engines than ever before, but it still lacks the competitive edge that is essential to achieving high search rankings. Luckily, with SWFObject it’s possible to create rich, interactive experiences with Flash that gracefully degrade to a search engine friendly alternative.

The recent Google/Adobe collaboration has not been without controversy, as Kevin Yank’s post on the SitePoint blog explains. But in addition to opening Flash further to search, the collaboration has rekindled important conversations about how we should be building our sites so that all of our content can receive the attention it deserves.
