STEP 2: GET YOUR FRIENDS AND COLLEAGUES ONBOARD
Once you've settled on a videoconferencing program, you should get your friends, family, and colleagues to download the same program so you can communicate with them. Unfortunately, today's videoconferencing software only lets you talk with people who use the same program as you do.
Luckily, White Pine is taking steps towards remedying this limitation. Already, White Pine CU-SeeMe, Cornell CU-SeeMe, and NetMeeting users can gather together in chat rooms hosted on White Pine MeetingPoint-enabled servers. An upcoming version of White Pine CU-SeeMe will let people who use CU-SeeMe, NetMeeting, and other videoconferencing programs conference without having to go through a chat room.
