Creating a Dreamweaver Site and New Web Page

Creating a Dreamweaver Site and New Web Page

To do anything in Dreamweaver, you need to have a Dreamweaver site defined. This process got easier in CS5; you can create a minimal site with only a few steps:

  1. Choose Site > New Site. In the Site Setup dialog, give your new site a name and define a local site folder.
  2. Choose File > New to open the New Document dialog. Choose Blank Page in the category column, HTML in the Page Type column, and <none> in the Layout column. Click Create to create a new, blank Dreamweaver page.
  3. Choose File > Save and assign a filename.

That was a really compressed introduction to creating a Dreamweaver site, but it should suffice for this tutorial. (For a more complete discussion of creating Dreamweaver CS5 websites and web pages, see Adobe Creative Suite 5 Web Premium How-Tos: Essential Techniques.)
