Tone Map: HDR Efex Pro

Notes on Tone Mapping

I liked using HDR Efex Pro on this image, because it gave me just the right amount of night feel by using the Dark Soft HDR Method (that’s probably my most-used HDR Method). I usually start by setting the HDR Method in the pop-up menu and setting the Method Strength to around 40%, then I fine-tune the image using the Tone Compression slider. Once that was complete, I took down the Exposure and Saturation a little bit, and added a bit of Warmth to the image. To add some darkness, I went back in and added some Blacks to the image. Normally, I add a lot of Structure to my images, but I actually thought it took something away from this one, because it really textured the grass.
