CHOOSING THE INVERSE OF A SELECTION

Very often, you will find in your Photoshop Elements work that it's faster and easier to first select the opposite of what you want. You select the opposite, and then choose Inverse from the Select menu.

Shown at left, selecting Inverse will make the selection act as a border, which can then be manipulated without affecting the center portion of the image.
