Graphics Standards Manual

An assignment to write, design, and produce a simple publication, a “Graphics Standards Manual,” that describes the origin and application of the symbol and logotype the students designed for the previous assignment.

In this manual, they explain the reasoning behind their designs; they also give instructions on how the symbols are to be used by others.

This exercise forces the students to re-examine their designs and their envisioned uses. In many cases, reconsideration prompts them to revise the original, “final” versions.
