Nikki McDonald

Nikki Echler McDonald is Peachpit's senior acquisitions editor covering graphic design, desktop publishing, and photography. Prior to becoming an acquisitions editor, Nikki worked as the content editor for Peachpit.com, as a communications manager in Peachpit’s marketing department, and—a very, very long time ago—as a freelance development editor working on Visual QuickStart Guides. She has also done her share of kitchen duty.

Although graphic design and photography books are her current passion, Nikki’s first love was magazines. Upon earning a magazine journalism degree from Ohio University, she moved to San Francisco and landed a job as a features editor at MacUser magazine. There, she learned how to use email and navigate the World Wide Web for the very first time. A year later, she left MacUser to help launch MacAddict magazine, which quickly became a fan favorite with Mac users thanks to its irreverent humor, Mac passion, and quirky staff videos. Nikki only left MacAddict to become the launch editor for DigitalFoto magazine, which survived for one crazy year before succumbing to the dot.com crash in 2001.

Nikki now works from her home in Ann Arbor, Michigan where she lurks the Web in search of the next best-selling graphic design or photography author. Could that person be you? Could it?
