It is with sincere gratitude that we announce that Nancy Aldrich-Ruenzel, publisher of Peachpit/The Creative Pro Group for the past 18 ½ years, will be leaving Peachpit at the end of February.

Nancy joined Peachpit in the summer of 1996, coming to us from Dynamic Graphics, where she was group president for all graphics products, services, new media, and training. At Peachpit she found a team publishing on fresh and new technologies, like Palm Pilot, CorelDRAW, PageMill, and Netscape (it was 1996!). But it was also the home of the best-selling Classroom in a Book series, Visual QuickStart Guides, and other industry-leading series. Over the years Nancy grew the Peachpit Press and Adobe Press imprints, added Apple Certified Training, New Riders, and KelbyOne/NAPP, and embraced new technologies with fervor. Peachpit produced its first ebooks, videos, and other digital products under Nancy’s passionate leadership.

Nancy received many awards throughout her career, including being ranked in the “MDJ Power 25” list as one of the most powerful and influential individuals in the Mac community, and receiving a “Woman of Distinction” award from the East Bay Business Times. She served on the boards of international graphics organizations, chaired and presented at design and technology conferences, and judged traditional and digital design competitions.

Her leadership and vision helped establish Peachpit’s strong foundation and inspired us to create the very best products—offering lifelong learning for creative people.

Peachpit’s new leader is Paul Boger, publisher and vice president of the IT Professional, Certification, and Business Professional publishing units which are part of the Pearson Technology Group (PTG). Paul will assume editorial leadership for all of PTG and will lead the IT Professional, Certification, and Business groups, as well as Peachpit.

Paul has been vice president and publisher at PTG for the past decade, before that serving as vice president and publisher of Que and Sams Publishing. Having worked closely with Nancy over the past fifteen years, he is very familiar with Peachpit and excited about the opportunity to work with both authors and staff on the products we are known for, as well as new endeavors that will help creative professionals learn the skills they need to succeed.

“I’m anxious to get to know you and hear from you, and more importantly,” said Boger, “I’m anxious to work with you on the kinds of books and videos that have made this imprint an icon in the industry, and I’m very excited to be in a position to keep that going.”

Meet Paul and learn more about his background and outlook for the future in this short video:
