Lightroom 2 public beta

I love waking up to good news! Late last night Adobe released a beta version of the new and much improved Lightroom and is seeking feedback from the public.

You can read all the details of the release over on Lightroom Journal, but here are some highlights:

  • Support for dual monitors
  • Maximum pixel dimension limit raised from 10,000 to 30,000 pixels
  • New local correction tools in Develop
  • Output sharpening
  • Print sharpening

Those are some of my favorites, but there is so much more! Colin Smith has put together an in depth report on the new Lightroom (including a demo video).

Stay tuned for some great Lightroom books from Peachpit once Adobe releases the shipping version of Lightroom 2:

  • Adobe Photoshop Lightroom How-Tos: 100 Essential Techniques
  • The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 Book for Digital Photographers
  • Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 Classroom in a Book
  • The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 Book: The Complete Guide for Photographers
  • Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2: Visual QuickStart Guide
  • Lessons in DSLR Workflow with Lightroom and Photoshop

There will also be two Rough Cuts:

  • Adobe Photoshop Lightroom How-Tos: 100 Essential Techniques, Rough Cuts
  • Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 Classroom in a Book, Rough Cuts

So, download Lightroom 2 and give it a spin!
