Lightroom catalog backup reminder

Have you backed up your Lightroom catalog recently? I've encountered too many folks recently who have run into problems with a catalog but never made a backup while it was still in good working order. If you don't backup regularly, you might want to take a moment right now to do the following.

  1. Launch Lightroom.
  2. Press Alt+Ctrl+, on Windows or Option+Cmd+, on Mac to open the Catalog Settings dialog.
  3. Click the General tab.
  4. Set Backup catalog to Every time Lightroom starts.
  5. Close and relaunch Lightroom.
  6. When Lightroom relaunches you will first see the Backup Catalog dialog. Click Choose and designate the location you want the backup saved to. I suggest chosing a different disk than the one your working catalog is stored on.
  7. Click Backup.
