Picking the Best Lens for Shooting Events

Question: I have just upgraded to an FX body and I'm debating between which two lenses that I should get, the 14-24mm or the 24-70mm.  I shoot events and people in their environments. Which lens would you recommend for those types of photographs?

Answer: Hi, they are both excellent lenses. However, for me, the 24-70 is a real workhorse. It is a great people and environmental portrait lens. The 14-24 is pretty essential for big spaces, and overalls, but you can probably get by with the 24mm end of the 24-70 on an FX format camera. Your choice of course, but I think you would get more use out of a 24-70.

Ask me a question so I can answer it in a future post on this blog.
