Automatic Alt Text CommandThis command will step through all the images in a document, adding alt text to each one. Specifications: |
Images Without Links: Filename |
For images without links attached, or for images with links to "#" or "javascript:...", the filename minus its extension will be used as the alt text. |
Images With Links: Link Info |
For images with links, "Visit" plus the link information will be used. This excludes images linked to "#" or "javascript" for scripting purposes. |
Shim Images |
If the document contains shim images small transparent graphics used to stabilize tables and add white space these do not normally need alt text. It's customary to assign an alt label of " " to these images, to eliminate the browser's default alt label "Image". This command gives you the opportunity to define a particular filename as a shim file; every occurrence of this file in the document will be given an alt label of " ". |
Existing Alt Text is Preserved |
If an image already has alt text, that text won't be overwritten. The command will skip that image, leaving its alt label intact. |
