Whizzy Things and Other Distracting Objects

People literally get dizzy when running into pages with flashing, moving, and looping animation and text. As hard as they try, they can't concentrate on the content with these distractions. Eyes can't help but wander away from content to the little buggers. If you must have an animated graphic, consider one round of animation instead of looping. Oh, and optimize the graphic to avoid long load times, a nasty side effect of animation.
