Animation
Last updated Oct 17, 2003.
Macromedia dominates the animation category with its Flash and Director products. There are other lesser known products, but they aren't as powerful or as accepted as Macromedia's products.
-
Flash Macromedia's product has dominated the animation field as its main competitor is no longer developing its competing product. Flash players are on over 97% Internet-enabled desktops making it a non-issue to deploy Flash-based applications. Flash is for creating streaming vector animation, lightweight video, and rich Internet applications.
-
Director Also from Macromedia, Director is targeted to CDs, DVDs, kiosks, and the Internet. It's most used for creating advanced 3D games and learning applications.
