This review is from: FileMaker Pro 8 for Windows & Macintosh (Paperback)
the title says it all really, if you have never used Filemaker before you will find this useful to get started on very basic databases. If you've used versions of Filemaker prior to v7 you will get a couple of tips about the differences in creating relational databases BUT this is quite clearly described in the free guide that comes with FileMaker. If you have used fileMaker 7 or above and know how to create a relational database with it you won't get one single useful bit of information out of it.It's really just an extended version of the Users Guide that comes with FileMaker - not worth buying. Needed this for a class, the teacher suggested Amazon used books-got it really cheap, arrived in time for class & in good shape. Even tho we are using a newer version of FileMaker, this book has all the basics and is written in a way that is very clear for beginners. Gives both Windows & Mac tips. Very useful.
