Save for Web Application
idden deep within the bowels of Illustrator is a whole nother application called Save for Web. This is the same application that was introduced in Photoshop 5.5. Save for Web allows you to save images in GIF, JPEG, or PNG formats. For most designers, Save for Web is all that you will ever need to create simple Web graphics. |
Save for Web Interface
When you choose File >> Save for Web, you leave your Illustrator window and enter the Save for Web window as seen in Figure 1. If you have a small monitor, this window will pretty much take over your screen. Don't worry. Your document is still there, hiding in the background. For now, though, everything you need is contained within this window.
Figure 1: The Save for Web window is your one-stop shopping center for all the features you need to create Web graphics.
There are five major areas in the Save for Web window: tools, preview, optimization settings, color table, image size, and the settings along the bottom of the window for magnification, color and alpha information, and jump to controls.
