Colby Brown is a full-time photographer that specializes in fine art landscape, travel and humanitarian photography. Colby teaches photography workshops, digital editing classes and webinars all over the globe. Through assignments, projects and freelance work, Colby's diverse portfolio spans photography work from North America, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Chile, Argentina, Nepal, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Australia, New Zealand and others. His work can be found at www.colbybrownphotography.com

Prior to Google+, Photographers relied on a mix of Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, and other services to display their work and interact with others. No single service provided photographers with a complete set of tools that allowed them to connect with others in a rich, meaningful way–until now.

Unlike other social networks, Google+ allows photographers to upload, personalize, and update images easily. The Google+ interface is intuitive and attractiveimages appear large and uncropped in the stream, preserving their original integrity; and the infinite scrolling feature creates a fluid, enjoyable photo browsing experience. In addition, the Google+ interface is built to encourage social interaction, not in miniature sound bites, but in full-length discussions with diverse groups of people. Users can build circles to connect with just those they want to include in different conversations, and they can use the Hangouts feature to talk with other users in real time from anywhere in the world.

With this book, you'll see why Google+ has quickly become the most inspiring and interactive social network for photographers, and you'll learn how to leverage Google+ to build a following and connect with other photographers–and potential customers.

  • Explains how to effectively showcase your work for the vibrant and growing Google+ photography community
  • Shows how to upload, organize, and share your images; and hone your skills through photo-critique circles
  • Features interviews with leading photographers who share their own photos and tips on how to make the most of Google+ to build an online presence

5.0 out of 5 stars Take your photography to the next level, May 23, 2012

This review is from: Google+ for Photographers (Paperback)
Google+ for Photographers is more than just a guide teaching you how to use the tools and features. It covers the best practices for posting pictures, organizing people into circles, sharing content to those circles and much much more. The significant meat of this book lies in his wisdom for how to leverage G+ to build real relationships with people. There are some subtle nuances that Colby helps you master that ultimately help you grow your audience. That's what we as photographers want right? It doesn't matter if you are doing it for work or pleasure, we have this simple desire to share our creations with people. As photographers, we are edified when we can touch other people through our work. There really isn't ego involved here.

This is a great read.

If you are interested in social media, Google+, photography and/or building an online presence, you should invest in Google+ for Photographers. If you are a photographer and you use social media to promote your work, you need to invest in this book. Not only does Colby Brown explain how you might best use Google+ as a networking tool, he also explains how to build a following and a dynamic online presence. Colby explains Google+ in depth, starting with nuts and bolts such as the differences between social and interest networks, then moves into the specifics of Google+ (aka G+) with respect to both photography and general interaction. As a bonus, while you read you're greeted by some of Colby's images as well as perspectives from and photos by other well-known photographers, all complimenting screen shots of the network. There's both useful information and amazing images. Bottom line: Google+ is a great way to network, build an online presence and become globally connected. Colby Brown... Read more
