The iPad Has Earned a Place in Your Camera Bag!
Apple's popular iPad tablet is an incredibly useful tool for photographers on the go. Instead of hauling a laptop on the road or to a photo shoot, you can tuck the lightweight iPad in your camera bag and take advantage of its large screen, third-party apps, and online access to effectively complete and share your work.

Novice to pro shooters will discover everything that the iPad has to offer with simple step-by-step instructions and real-world advice for:

  • Importing and copying photos from memory cards using the iPad Camera Connection Kit, then uploading and backing up to iCloud Photo Stream or Dropbox.
  • Organizing and rating images and assigning tags in the field, and integrating them later with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom on your computer.
  • Editing photos with Photogene, Snapseed, and other image adjustment tools.
  • Editing video clips in iMovie, creating slideshows, rough cuts, and more.
  • Using portfolio software to create and deliver impressive iPad presentations for prospective clients.
Photographers will learn other clever uses for iPads including triggering the camera shutter remotely, using the screen as a fill flash, calculating depth of field, tracking outdoor light conditions, storing camera manuals as PDFs for quick reference, and other handy at-your-fingertip resources to complement your particular shooting style.

A bonus online chapter with additional coverage for the new iPadincluding iPhoto and Photoshop Touch appsis included with purchase.

The iPad is a powerful photography tool and this guide will help every photographer take advantages of its full capabilities!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good overview of iPad photgraphy apps, accessories, tips, and tricks, May 27, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased an iPad and several of the apps and accessories covered in the book, to use for photography, prior to buying this book. So much of the information in the book was not new to me. Still, the book taught me a few useful things about each of my apps that I didn't already know.

This book would be of the greatest value to someone contemplating using an iPad for photography who hasn't purchased one yet. The book's advice on workflows, apps and accessories would then be of huge value. This book also gives you a good feel for the use and functionality of several expensive apps, such as Photosmith, letting you make an informed decision on whether or not you want to spend the money for them.

Recommended for pros and advanced amateur photographers only. Not for beginning photographers.

This review is from: The iPad for Photographers: Master the Newest Tool in Your Camera Bag (Paperback)
There are lots of iPad books out there, but this is the only one that should be considered by a photographer who wants to use Apple's tablet computer as serious tool. If you're like most, you've puzzled over "tethering" your iPad using ShutterSnitch or Eye-Fi cards, and generally wondered which apps are useful and which apps are rip-offs. You're perplexed about how to get images in and out of your iPad, especially if you use CF cards. This book has all the answers. Buy it and be prepared to discover things you never suspected your iPad could do.

5.0 out of 5 stars The iPad for Photographers, March 26, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
As both a Photographer and a Teacher, I find "The iPad for Photographers by Jef Carlson" to be one of the most valuable reads for both my own knowledge and for my students. Jeff Carlson covers the "how to" aspects needed by every photographer such as: moving images into the iPad, editing secrets with easy to use apps and then how to share the images on the iPad or on line. His directions are easy to read and follow step by step. I have also discovered in the book more tips and tricks needed by photographers to make the iPad work for better use of our time. I have found more ways in which I can make the iPad work for me with out always luging around my laptop for presentations and demos.
