Although the author photographed with the military, her techniques apply wherever one must compose and shoot "on the run" -- without the time to set up a studio environment.

My book arrived while I was out of town. I didn't open it until the next morning after I went through my mail. I figured I would just thumb through it before I sit down later and actually read it. I could not but the book down. I had to read it right then and there. The photos told a story in themselves. I found myself riveted to the stories behind the photos. While the photos were incredible, the stories made them personally. I could feel the pain and anguish as Stacy made her decision to take photos of her dying friend.I am glad she told the real deal on how to handle the bodily needs in the field. This is something the military always neglects to tell servicewomen. You are expected to figure it out on your own. Great job Stacy. You cut that learning curve down. I will never be a photojournalist, but I found I could not put this down until I finished it. If you think of this book as a how to, you will miss the true meaning. There is more depth than just the technical... Read more |
