I picked up this book to help with the new photoshop elements 8 for mac os x since i've only used the program once and really didn't get the hang of it. It shows how to do things exactly for the mac which helps since i'm also new to the mac system. they compare the iphoto and bridge elements and how to use them effectively. it's a very nice color visual instruction and easy to learn. i have their html quick start guide and that was also wonderful. the back cover shows that it is for beginners and intermediate levels and i would suggest looking at the preview of the chapters to see if its right for you.

If you are a first time Photoshop user like me this book is essential, especially with screen shots on every page . . . a quick read of the Basics and I was ready to start some projects . . . I purchased Elements 8 primarily for the new Smart Brush tool so I can easily replace unwanted colors in Fractal images I like to create, the chapter on that feature as with all the chapters showed me exactly how to do what I wanted and it only took 2 minutes of trial and error to get the selected areas and colors the way I wanted them . . . and after browsing through all the other chapters I was amazed at all the features in Elements 8 and I was inspired with all kinds of ideas for future projects modifying old photos and things I will be scanning . . . this book will make all that easy . . . I did not bother going to a book store and comparing this with all the other similar books, for less than $ 20 I took a chance on this one and I'm glad I did.
