You can also run a target browser check on an entire directory or local site.

To run a target browser check on an entire folder or selected files:

  1. Open the Sites window (Figure 15) by selecting Window > Site Files from the Document window menu bar, or by pressing F8.

  2. In the Site window, select the directory you want to check. This can be the root directory, in which case all HTML files will be checked, or it can be a subdirectory. You can also Shift+Click or Ctrl+Click (Command+Click) to select several files instead of a folder.

  3. From the Site window menu bar, select File > Check Target Browsers. The Check Target Browser(s) dialog box will appear.

Below the browsers list box, you'll see a count of how many files will be diagnosed (Figure 16).

  4. Click on Check. The Check Browser(s) Status dialog box will appear as Dreamweaver checks each browser against the document.

  5. When Dreamweaver has completed the check, it will launch your primary browser and load the results of the check (Figure 17).

The Target Browser Check report shown in the browser window is a temp file. If you think you'll want to refer to this file later, you can save it.

To save the report file:

  1. From the browser window's menu bar, select File > Save As (or equivalent). The Save As dialog box will appear.

  2. Type a name for the page, ending in .htm or .html, in the File name text box.

  3. Verify the directory in which the page is to be saved.

  4. Click on Save. The Browser will save a copy of the file that you can view later.
