People are social, and often try to turn whatever technology they're using into a social community. This is why Facebook, LinkedIn, and other social networking sites are so popular. FINCA could use the power of social networking and community to build a stronger group of loyal donors. The site could build a community of people who donate, of course, but also a community between the people who are donating and the people who are receiving loans. If language and Internet access are a barrier to the borrowers, FINCA could at least set up a community of donors talking to lenders—the people who do the money management could engage in a community network site to give updates, answer questions, and so on. Building a community would foster loyalty among donors.
