Patterns

The human eye is naturally drawn to patterns, which is why images that show patterns are so pleasing to view. Be on the lookout for repeating lines, shapes, colors, or tones. Remember, to compose your frame to emphasize the pattern’s repetition, consider the depth of field. When photographing repeating lines or shadows, I often convert my image to black and white to add emphasis to the pattern (Figure 4.16).
