Blue Hour

Blue hour is when I get some of my best shots. If you’re not a morning person, know that the magic hours both occur at sundown as well. But I think it’s less risky to be at a location first thing in the morning. You’re less likely to run into scrappers, vandals, and authority figures because everyone likes to sleep in. It’s a worthy sacrifice in my eyes.

Blue hour also contributes to the uniqueness of UrbEx photos; not only do most people not get to see the places that we go, but they’re especially not used to seeing these places shot at blue hour, because it is typically used only by landscape photographers. I can’t stress enough how great blue hour is. If you haven’t shot during this phase, try it now!

This shot of an abandoned pipe factory was caught right between blue hour and golden hour.
