What are autofocus points and how to use them

Your camera uses autofocus points to focus on the subject in your photo. DSLR cameras have multiple autofocus (AF) points, and as the photographer, you get to decide which point or points to use. There are actually different types of AF points, and they are not all created equal. This chapter is here to explain why cameras have multiple AF points, as well as to help you decide which of those points to use.
