Save Tints as Swatches

Creating a tint of the color currently selected in the Swatches palette is easy; just move the Tint slider at the top of the palette from 100% to a lower number. However, once you raise that Tint slider back up to 100% (perhaps you’re now working on a different swatch), your tint is now long gone. To avoid that, you have to save your custom tint as a swatch—first click on the color you want to use as the tint base. Then use the Tint slider to create the tint you want. Once the tint looks right, click the New Swatch icon at the bottom of the Swatches palette and that tint is now saved as a totally separate color. Changes you make in the Color palette will no longer affect your tint because now it is saved as its own separate swatch.
