Lesson Files FAQ

About these files

What are these files?
These files are specific lessons you will need as you read the book and practice what you learn. These files are free and included with the purchase of a new Peachpit book or eBook.

Accessing the files

How do I download my files?
If you have purchased a new Peachpit book or eBook, it will contain a code to access the lesson files. Visit www.peachpit.com/redeem and enter your code into the box to access your lesson files. After logging into the site, the files will appear on your Account page, under the Lesson & Update Files tab.

Do I have to register to download my files?
Yes. You must register on Peachpit.com so that we can ensure the owner of the book or eBook is receiving the lesson files.

Can I download the files again at a later date?
Yes. The files will reside on your Account page, so you can log in and access the files anytime you like.

Can I download the files onto a second computer?
Yes. As a registered user, you will be able to download the files onto more than one computer.

I purchased a used book; can I download the files?
No. The lesson files can only be accessed by one registered user. Assuming the original purchaser of the book registered and downloaded the files, you would not be able to access them.

I purchased a used book; can I pay for the lesson files?
Our policy is one book to one set of lesson files. You may either purchase a new book and receive the lesson files, or use your used book without them.

I didn't receive a code or my code does not work.
Please contact Tech Support.

How do I get updated files?
The latest version of the lesson files will always be available for download on your Account page. If you have redeemed a code on Peachpit.com or purchased an eBook on our site, you will be notified of the updated files via email.

Can I share my files with someone else?
No. Only the purchaser of the book or eBook has the usage rights to download and use the lesson files.

Technical

Can I download and use the lesson files on my tablet?
We discourage attempting to download and use the lesson files on tablets, for a couple of reasons. Most of the file types included in the lessons are incompatible with tablets. Also, the lesson files are large and therefore compressed, so opening them on a tablet would be difficult.

Does my computer require specific software to view and use the lesson files?
Depending on which book you have purchased, the lesson files will contain several different file formats (PDF, PSP, JPG, AI, DOC, etc.). You will need software that can display each file type.

I receive a timeout message while downloading the files. What should I do?
In some instances, the browser closes the download session prematurely resulting in a partial download.

  • While downloading large files, close other browser tabs and windows.
  • Be sure that your computer is not set to sleep during the download.
  • Check and update your browser to the current version if necessary.
  • Try the download again at an off-peak time.
