Working with Master Pages
A master page is a good place to add elements that will be common to all pages in a design, such as a header graphic for a web page design. You can have only one master page per Fireworks document. Any elements you add to a master page (layers, graphics, web elements, etc.) will be shared to all pages in the document and placed in the same physical location on each page.
When should you consider using a master page? Master pages are best for designs that have identical page sizes throughout, because you can predictably place headers, footers, and common side columns (such as navigation) in the master page and automatically share those features to all pages in the design.
You can create a master page in a couple of ways:
- Right-click (Mac: Ctrl-click) an existing page and choose Set as Master Page from the context menu.
- Select a page in the Pages panel and choose Set as Master Page from the Options menu.
To turn a master page back into a regular page, use either of these methods, but select Reset Master Page.
If you create a master page, it will always reside at the top of the Pages panel and be identified as [Master Page].
