Creating Embellishments
For added interest, decorate your page using rectangles or other shapes filled with colors selected from the photo or the page background, or use tones of these colors. You can also create textured or three-dimensional shapes using layer styles. For example, here's how to create a shape that looks like a brad used to fix a photo to the page:
Begin with a new layer. Create a small circular shape in an attractive color.
Select the shape on the layer by Ctrl+clicking the layer in the layer palette.
Apply a bevel and embossed style to give it dimension and a shadow.
Repeat the process over all four corners of the photo. When complete, it looks as if the photo is adhered to the backing paper using a paper fastener or brad. (See Figure 2.)
