What format are the videos?

We offer video lessons in two formats: DVD and Online. Because of space constraints on the DVD, it includes only MP4 format videos. The online version includes both MP4 and WebM files, making them compatible with most HTML5 browsers.

Do I have to have an Internet connection in order to play the videos?

Online: Yes, you will need a reliable, fast Internet connection to stream the videos.

DVD: No, you can view the entire course from the DVD.

Can I view the videos on multiple devices?

Online: Yes. With our new video player you can view the videos on any HTML5 compatible device, including tablets and smartphones.

DVD: The DVD can be viewed only on a computer using a web browser. It will not work in DVD player software or a DVD set-top player.

How do I launch the video in Windows?

This DVD-ROM can be viewed in your computer using the Firefox web browser version 22 (or later) running in Windows Vista (or later), but it will NOT work in DVD player software or in a DVD set-top player. Pop-ups must be enabled for this disc in order for it to run (instructions below).

If you try to use a different browser (including Internet Explorer), the program will not run and you will be instructed to install a different browser.

To launch the course if AutoPlay is enabled:

  1. Insert the DVD into your computer’s DVD drive.
  2. If the AutoPlay window (shown) is displayed, click "Run autostart.exe" to begin the course.

To launch the course if AutoPlay is turned off:

  1. Insert the DVD into your computer’s DVD drive.
  2. Close the AutoPlay window, if it appears.
  3. Go to Start > Computer, and in the menu that appears right-click on your DVD-ROM drive.
  4. Click Open to display the contents of the disc.
  5. Double-click the file named autostart.exe to launch the course

How do I enable Pop-Ups in Firefox for Windows?

The user interface for this course uses pop-up windows. If you have disabled pop-ups for Firefox, the course will not run. You have a choice of enabling pop-ups for this course or for Firefox in general.

To enable pop-ups for this course only:
If you launch the course and Firefox presents an alert about a pop-up window, click Options and select Allow pop-ups... You may need to press Enter for Firefox to recognize the change.

To enable pop-ups for Firefox in general:

  1. Click the orange Firefox menu in the upper left corner of the application window and select Options > Options to open the Options dialog.
  2. Select the Content tab and click Block pop-up windows to remove the checkmark.
  3. Click OK to close the dialog.

How do I launch the video on a Mac?

This DVD-ROM can be viewed in your computer using the Safari web browser version 6 (or later) runnning in Mac OS X 10.7.5 (or later), but it will NOT work in DVD player software or in a DVD set-top player. Pop-ups must be enabled for this disc in order for it to run (instructions below).

If you try to use a different browser, the program will not run and you will be instructed to install Safari.

To launch the course:

Insert the disc into your computer. Its icon will appear on your Desktop and then open to display the disc’s content. Double-click the Play Video icon to open the training in the Safari web browser.

The user interface for this course uses pop-up windows. If you have disabled pop-ups for Safari, the course will not run.

How do I enable pop-ups in Safari for Mac?

  1. Launch Safari.
  2. Choose Safari > Preferences to open the Preferences dialog.
  3. Click the Security tab, then deselect the checkbox next to Block Pop-up Windows.
  4. Close the dialog and quit Safari, then follow the instructions for launching the course.

How long does it take for a video to load?

Online: Video buffer times will vary based on your Internet connection speed. Since we are streaming the video, you will be able to start watching your video in just a few seconds.

DVD: Your video will begin playing in just a few seconds, depending on the DVD-ROM speed and other system attributes.

How do I navigate through the video or make volume adjustments?

The Help page within the video includes a guide to all navigation and video controls within the product.

How do I watch the video lessons with closed-captioning enabled?

Online: During video playback, simply click on the CC toggle button located at the bottom of the video player. This button is available on all videos, except for the Welcome video.

For DVD: To enjoy uninterrupted video playback WITH closed-captioning we recommend the following:

  1. Copy the contents of the DVD to your hard drive. The video-based course and lesson files are quite large, so you will need up to 8GB of free space on your computer.

    For Mac:
    • Insert the DVD into the DVD drive
    • Click on Finder on your dock (usually far left icon)
    • Click Go
    • Click Computer
    • Right-click the video course
    • Choose Copy course title
    • Create a folder on your computer
    • Paste the contents of the DVD into the new folder
    For Windows:
    • Insert the DVD in the DVD drive
    • If the Autoplay window is displayed, close it
    • Click Start (Windows button in lower-left corner of the screen)
    • Select Computer
    • Right-click on the DVD-ROM drive
    • Click Copy
    • Create a folder on your computer
    • Paste the contents of the DVD into the new folder
  2. Within the new folder you have created, launch the course by double-clicking autostart.exe (Windows) or Play Video (Mac).
  3. To access the Lesson Files, extract them from the zip file located in the folder you created.
