In Summary
Flash Video is the most widely-supported, most powerful way to share video on the web. You can use YouTube’s one-size-fits-all environment to share the cell-phone video you captured from a quarter-mile away at a U2 concert at YouTube. But, if you want to present quality video, in a custom environment, you should create your own Flash Video using the Flash Video Encoder, and then generate your own web pages and Flash Player skin in Dreamweaver.
Compare and Contrast: You can watch my Flash Video “On Record” at YouTube in mono audio (urgh!) and in YouTube’s pre-fab player, and then watch the same video with quality stereo sound and a generated set of player controls at http://www.peachpit.com/content/downloads/peachpit/companion/flashvideovqj/Final_Project/hq.html.
