Exercise 2.4 Configure Your iOS Device

Challenge

Set your iOS device to have an out-of-the-box configuration.

Considerations

Not everyone has a spare iOS device for testing, so make a backup of your iOS device before using it for the exercises in this guide.

Choose Settings > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings to return your iOS device to its factory default configuration.

Solution

If your iOS device is fresh out of the box, you don’t need to do anything else, and you can skip to the section, “Set up your iOS device.”

Optional: Make an iCloud backup of your production iOS device

If this iOS device is just for testing, and you do not need to create a system backup, skip to the next section, “Reset your iOS device.”

  1. On your iOS device, press the Home button to return to your Home screen.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Tap iCloud.
  4. If you are not already signed in with iCloud, enter your personal iCloud credentials, and tap Sign In.
  5. If you see the “Allow iCloud to Use the Location” dialog, for the purposes of this exercise, tap Don’t Allow.
