Humor
Humor is one of my favorite compositional tools and often one of the most difficult frames to capture. Funny moments tend to happen quickly, so you’ve got to be quick on your feet when it comes to capturing them—and sometimes you also have to be bold. Practicing street photography techniques—such as always having your settings ready, and keeping your eyes open and your ears listening—will help you be ready when a funny moment strikes (Figure 4.25). When it does, get your photo quickly and move on, as nothing takes the fun out of a funny moment more than someone having to hold on too long while you get your settings right!
Figure 4.25 I found humor in this situation and the expression on the penguin’s face.
