With planar mapping, we textured only the front part of the character. You will need to repeat the process for the back of the head. After the maps are applied, you will need to render some tests to make sure that the character looks good from all angles and in a number of different lighting situations. (See Figure 9.)

These are the basics of texturing for characters. There are plenty of other methods, including the use of 3D paint systems, to create and place textures on your characters. Experiment and have fun.
