The Polygon Lasso tool is handy when you are selecting a subject with horizontal and vertical lines. Click once to add a point, release the mouse button, and then click again to continue tracing around the subject. If you encounter curves along your path, press the Alt key and drag. Release the Alt key when you need to trace straight lines again. To finish the selection, double+click the point where you began (a circle will appear next to your cursor, indicating that you are closing the selection).
