Getting General System Information

Control Panel's System page is a helpful information-only window that displays

  • Your Windows edition (including Service Packs)
  • Information about your processor and physical memory (RAM)
  • Your computer's name and network (workgroup or domain)
  • Windows registration information

You'll need some of this information when you request tech support over the phone, particularly if you're talking to Microsoft.

To display general system information:

  • Choose Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System (or press Windows logo key+Break) (Figure 4.77).
