STEP 4: BUILD A WEB SITE FOR YOUR CAM
Now that you've got your cam up and running, how do you show it off? By creating a Web site to showcase your pictures, of course. Don't worry if you don't know anything about HTML or building Web pages. There are lots of programs out there that make it easy, including the freeware AOL Press (Windows only, www.aolpress.com/), Macromedia's Dreamweaver for ($299, www.macromedia.com/), or Adobe's CyberStudio ($299, www.adobe.com/).
To build a Web site for your cam, create a main page for your most recent image. If you have a picture history, you'll also need to build a page for each picture and make links to all of them.
STEP 5: HAVE FUN!
Once you've set up your Web cam and built a site for it, what comes next? Anything you want. Go ahead and unleash your creativity. The next time you have a party at your home or office, point your cam to where the action is. Or use your cam and a $35 shareware program called QuickEditor to create your own QuickTime movies (as covered in chapter 6 of The Little Web Cam Book). Or assemble some of your favorite photos into a GIF animation photo album (chapter 5). With a cam and a Web site, there's no limit to the things you can do!
