Rust Never Sleeps
Don't think that just because you've set up your personal firewall or other security components that you can rest on your laurels forever afterward. Security holes and exploits pop up all the time. At a bare minimum, you should be sure to keep your personal firewall (and any other software you may use to make your Internet connection) up-to-date with current patches, fixes, and updates. You should really also use grc.com or the Security Space audits to check your security at least once every three to six months, if not more often. Welcome to the wonderful world of Internet security!
