Adobe releases new Flash Player

Adobe announced the release of the Adobe Flash Player 10 public beta on May 15. .

The new plug-in, code-named "Astro," is available free of charge from Adobe Labs to users of Macintosh and Windows computers. Supported for the first time are custom, real-time graphics filters that developers can write in a language called Pixel Bender (formerly code-named "Hydra"), as well as run-time 3D animation and rich text layout. Performance of all of these features can be enhanced by GPU acceleration—that is, the Flash Player can bypass the computer's main processor and use whatever video hardware is installed in the machine.
