One reason I love my iPhone is that it has significantly reduced the amount of "stuff" I have to carry with me wherever I go.  Sadly, my iPhone can't replace my credit cards, ATM card, and driver's license.  Well, not yet, anyway.  However, with the help of 1Password, it can help to reduce the thickness of my wallet.

One reason I love my iPhone is that it has significantly reduced the amount of "stuff" I have to carry with me wherever I go.  Need a portable GPS device?  No thanks, I've got my iPhone.  Need a digital camera?  No thanks, I've got my iPhone.  Need a watch?  No thanks, I've got my iPhone.  One thing I do still have to carry with me, however, is my wallet.  Sadly, my iPhone can't replace my credit cards, ATM card, and driver's license.  Well, not yet, anyway.  However, with the help of 1Password, it can help to reduce the thickness of my wallet.

1Password's Initial Password Prompt

If you're not familiar with 1Password, it originated as a password manager for Mac OS X, which integrates with Safari, Firefox, and more.  But, it's much more than just a password manager.  Aside from storing website passwords, it also allows you to store credit card numbers, bank account numbers, membership numbers, social security numbers, software serial numbers, secure notes, and much, much more.  I've entered a ton of information into 1Password on the Mac, and with the help of Wi-Fi syncing, it's now on my iPhone too, and therefore, with me wherever I go.

Now, whenever I'm at the bank and need an account number, I can quickly find it.  When I'm at a hotel and need a reward card number, I've got it with me.  When I'm out shopping for a birthday present for my wife, I've got some ideas tucked away in a secure note. When I'm traveling and I need a username and password to a website I haven't visited in several months, I can look it up within a few moments, or log in automatically using 1Password's built-in browser.  And, since 1Password locks my data behind a 4-digit unlock code, as well as (if desired) a master password, I know that my data is secure.

1Password, from Agile Web Solutions, is available in the App Store in two varieties.  The standard version is $4.99, while the Pro version, which includes some additional functionality, is available for $7.99.  If you're a Mac user, I encourage you to check out the 1Password desktop application, as well.  It runs $39.99, but in my opinion, it's well worth the asking price. You can learn more about these great products on Agile Web Solutions' website.
