As we’ve said, all of this is very new. Desktop publishing has not yet fully embraced XML as part of a page layout workflow, and InDesign’s XML features are only a small step in the right direction. We’ve got a lot of experimenting to do before we find the right fit for XML—a format that is explicitly not concerned about formatting—and a page layout. We’re convinced that they can work together, in spite of their differences, and that we’ll see many more XML features work their way into InDesign in future versions.
